Project of a New House

At the beginning of 2006, a need arose to reconstruct the Centre as the number of its visitors and active members kept growing, the house became too cramped and the sanitary facilities insufficient. During the preparations of the architectonic project, it became obvious that the house reconstruction would be far more demanding from time and financial points of view and less effective than a completely new building, for which we finally opted. The construction of the Diamond Way House started in June 2009 and should be finished in winter 2010. The original house, former kindergarten was demolished in spring 2009.

The new house will enable

  • To organize lectures, seminares and meetings lasting several days for more people.
  • To invite guests from abroad (co-operation with the towns of Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna, Leipzig, Poznan and Opole).
  • To organize bigger and better educational events and workshops (webmaster, designer, editor and translator courses).
  • To build a quality library of specialized Buddhist literature (with a reading room), open also to the public and students.
  • To support development of young people and their life, human and work experience by participation in common projects within the Brno Centre, the entire country and Europe.
  • To provide information to the public interested in Buddhism, to continue talks for schools and to organize lectures in public and cultural halls in the town.
  • The publishing activity of the Centre requires a central warehouse of books and magazines for Moravia, so far functioning under completely inconvenient conditions.
  • Brno concentrates many students from other towns, with projects of co-operation and support to smaller towns of Moravia arising here, while it is our effort to expand such activities further.
  • To be accessible for parents with children. The project includes one room for children to provide them with maximum care and attention while the parents want to study or meditate.
  • To preserve the tradition of refreshment preparation in the house even with increased number of visitors.
  • To build appropriate sanitary facilities including easy access.
  • A room to accommodate guest teachers.
